The IPJA leadership team brings together veteran journalists, media educators, legal advocates, and digital innovators from across India. With decades of experience and a shared commitment to fearless, ethical journalism, they steer the organization's vision, strategy, and impact.

Dr. Roopa Nair

President | Senior Investigative Journalist & Media Reformer

A trailblazer in investigative reporting and media ethics, Dr. Nair has led national exposés on corruption, gender violence, and environmental injustice. She serves as the public face of IPJA and chairs the National Ethics Council.

PCK Rao

With over 30 years in print and digital journalism, Rao oversees IPJA's operations, partnerships, and member engagement. He is known for mentoring young journalists and building inclusive editorial teams.

Dr. Roopam Bachhil

Vice President (Education & Training)

A leading voice in journalism education, Prof. Bachhil designs IPJA's national training curriculum and leads its student outreach programs. She advocates for curriculum reform and regional language media empowerment.

Nandan Kashyap

Director of Digital Strategy

A digital rights activist and newsroom technologist, Nandan leads IPJA's cybersecurity initiatives, innovation labs, and digital safety campaigns. He also manages the association's online platforms and data ethics policy.

Adv. Diwakar Dubey

Legal Advisor | Supreme Court Advocate & Media Law Specialist

Diwakar heads IPJA's Legal Defense Fund and provides pro bono support to journalists facing legal harassment. He also contributes to policy advocacy on press freedom and sedition law reform.

Kavita Ingle

National Coordinator (Rural & Regional Media) | Freelance Journalist, Maharashtra

Kavita represents the voices of rural and regional journalists within IPJA. She coordinates grassroots fellowships, regional language content initiatives, and field safety protocols.

Akhilesh Tripathi

Youth & Campus Engagement Lead | Former Campus Editor, The Indian Beats

Akhilesh leads IPJA's student chapters, internship programs, and youth media literacy campaigns. He is passionate about building the next generation of ethical, tech-savvy journalists.

IPJA is governed by a rotating National Council, elected every five years by its general body members or nominated by Trustees. Regional chapters are led by nominated coordinators who ensure local representation and grassroots engagement.
